There are definitely main attractions in Uganda like the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Natonal Park, the source of the Nile in Jinja or even the lions in Kidepo National Park.
Some places are not given the credit they deserve like the beaches in Mukono such as at Oguzulu that does not only create a beautiful site but also allows people wind-down and enjoy the many water activities that are available.
One thing is for sure though, if there is a place worth seeing and fits into a client’s experience, Twiga will take you there, don’t worry if you can’t find it on Google or brochure we guarantee you that even if it’s just a kafunda, Twiga will find it.
Fourtantely for our clients, Twiga is in the possession of one of the best hidden gems in Uganda, an island found right in the middle of Lake Nyabihoko, a crater lake found in the hills of Ntungamo.
A place that can be described as a private getaway, a birders paradise but most importantly a whole new experience on its own. The island is always available for our clients.
Bundibugyo
Bundibugyo is found in Western Uganda in the Rwenzuru region, intrestingly enough it is close to the Democratic People’s Republic of Congo so there is a definite mixture of cultures making interaction with locals interesting.
The area is mostly known for its hilly topography with as it can go for a greener version of the Swiss Alps but as beautiful as the hills are the main attraction is River Semiliki which can be seen from the top of some of the highlands.
The outskirts of the river is inhabited by River Semiliki National Park which is home to a variety of plant species and vegetation from long thick grass lands to thick tall forests that number of bird species can be found.
There also unique features like hot springs making every step in the part a different expirence.
Rubirizi
Located in the Bunyaruguru region in Western Uganda, the locals call it “Bunyaru-heaven” as they believe it is the closest place to heaven which tells you all you really need to know.
The area has over 32 crate lakes all different from each other, making almost every turn of this place amazing as one of these spectacles can be seen from almost everywhere.
And as if it could not get any better, Rubirizi has a very strategic location which does not only give you easy access to Queen Elizabeth National Park, but also has an amazing view from its higher altitude that oversees the whole park.
To top it all, the Kazinga Channel also passes through Rubirizi making cruises along it a magnificent experience.
Ntungamo
A little to nothing known distict in South Western Uganda but bursting with potential, from its strategic location as it is a reasonable distance from major tourist areas such as Kisoro, Kasese, Mbarara, Rubirizi, etc.
Ntungamo is also home to a number of hidden gems such lake as Nyabihoko, a large Crater Lake which together with its islands create a utopia like no other, another gem is Kitagata falls that is 15 km from Ntungamo-Rukungiri road.
